• A Hand of Compassion to Somalia

The efforts to drill “the water well in Africa” bore their fruits. The Project was started by Humantarian Relief Foundation (İHH) under pioneering of the academics who work at the Department of Artitechture, Mardin Artuklu University (MAÜ).

As result of the endeavour to make up a shortage of drinking water in Africa started under pioneering research assistants, Abdullah Asım Divleli and Ömer Faruk Günenç in MAÜ, it has been learned that, on behalf of the University, “a water well” was drilled in Somalia, where drought and water scarcity are very severe.

Saying that they have had a water well drilled in Somalia lying in the cape of Africa as a result of the contributions of the academic and administrative staff  and that as the university they are sensitive to charity work, Ömer Faruk Günenç, who is a research assistant of the department of Archticure, Mardin Artuklu Universtiy, continues his speech thus:

“With the aim to help, at least a little bit, to our African siblings, who have struggled to meet their needs of drinking water with limited water sources, we have had our first water well drilled in Somalia via İHH (Humantarian Relief Foundation), which is one of charitable establishments.

In Africa, where the struggle with famine as well as water shortages has been maintained, drought and water scarcity has brought the life to a standstill. The Somalians who live in the areas where epidemic diseases appeared due to drought have felt relieved thanks to the water wells.

Mardin Artuklu University will continue its efforts to have water wells drilled in Africa. It is our humanitarian duties to meet the needs of our siblings and to make sacrifies. We thank all the friends who contribute efforts. May God bless them. “
